AACL-IJCNLP 2020 Diversity and Inclusion Efforts
The Diversity and Inclusion initiative at AACL-IJCNLP 2020 has undertaken/endorsed the following activities to make the first AACL more inclusive to the NLP community.
1. Writing Assistance Support from Grammarly
Thanks to our in-kind sponsor Grammarly to donate premium access codes for our authors of Main Conference and Co-located events.
2. mini-WiNLP Satellite Session
The Widening NLP (WiNLP) initiative (www.winlp.org) would be hosting a mini-WiNLP satellite event in collaboration with the Diversity and Inclusion committee at AACL-IJCNLP 2020 (https://aacl2020.org).
The three-hour virtual event would consist of the following:
a. A mentorship session
b. A panel discussion with a special focus on issues related to diversity and inclusion
c. A networking and social hour

3. D&I Financial Assistance
Thanks to our generous sponsors to assist some of our student participants to receive waivers for registration and membership fees.
4. Queer in AI Event
The Queer in AI social is an event for queer people and allies in NLP to share their experiences, network with others and discuss queer issues in research. The social will involve a mix of mini-talks, Q&A sessions, panel and breakout discussions, focusing on queer issues in Asia-Pacific. All event information will remain confidential to respect the privacy and safety of participants. People of all identities, including allies, are invited to attend!
The event would be open to all. Registration information and financial aid are available on their website.
